There isn't a BEST ratio. The best way to get the best A/F would be to put it on a dyno and have a professional tune it.

A VAFC is only as good as its tuner.

Don't try it and your engine will thank you.

Don't try to tune it yourself if you don't have experience tuning...and based on your first question it sounds like you haven't got a lot of experience. You have the potential to damage the car from running too lean, or not setting the mixture for optimal performace.

it's also good to have a datalogger to see your knock counts. you could adjust your afr rich or lean to adjust it within the idea afr range where you wouldn't have any knock.

from there, you could start to advance timing, etc corresponding with your knock account and making adjustment to your afr

on standalone or piggyback. VAFC just does the afr by tricking the maf sensor of how much incoming air is being read. I was talking general tuning.

The best way to use vafc in my opinion is to make sure you use the lower setting as well as high setting. It takes some time to make sure the adjustment is correct, but it yields greater result in power and driveability, I think.
