Default pulling key out of ignition

I've recently noticed that sometimes when I pull the key out of the ignition and open my door to get out it beeps as if the key is still in. I have to put the key in and pull it back out to get it to stop. It doesn't happen everytime. Is anyone else experiencing this? What can be done about it?

I suggest that you bring the car to the dealer, especially when your car is spankin' new.

Mine's started to do the same thing (3500 miles). I'm making an appointment as well.

Mine does that all the time; at least once a day.

Mine did this when it was pretty new too. I took it to the dealer and they cleaned out the ignition key assembly and it hasn't done it again in two years. Must have been some dirt that got in there some how, maybe from the key itself.

Powdered Graphite. It's available in all auto parts stores.

No need for a service appointment. You should keep this on hand anyway for things like lubing areas where wet lub won't do

Never use. EVER use something like WD40 or wet solutions on your key locks. Only use the graphite. In fact a small squirt of this prior to the cold season(if your a Winter driver) will prevent lock freeze. Just place a small puff of this in the ignition hole, work the key for a series of motions and your good to go !

same things here too, started at around 5000 miles. Looks like a common problem.
