SPRING FLING 2007 AT WINTERGREEN - ACTIVITIES THREAD
UPDATE 5/2/07 - I will be updating this thread as time goes on. Here's where we want to post about everything associated with activities for Spring Fling. The resort has many amenities including golf, tennis, pool and spa (www.wintergreenresort.com).
Fri Check In:
From 4-11 pm, however I've requested early check in for everyone. You can explore or hang out at the Gristmill Lounge right off the lobby. I'll be around to meet and greet (and start collecting $$$ for the banquet and entertainment - see below).
Car Wash Area:
The car wash area will be available from 1-6 pm on Fri and Sat. It will be at The Lookout, which is on Grassy Ridge Rd to the right of the Mountain Inn. There is a faucet on the side of the building and there should be a hose there during those hours. Bring your own bucket and car care products. It is #7 on the resort map (see the website - www.wintergreenresort.com.)
Fri Night Dinner:
You are on your own for Fri night. The resort has a couple of restaurants and there are some other options here: www.nelsoncounty.com/visit/restaurants. Nellysford has several and is near Wintergreen.
I have arranged dinner for a limited number of peeps (no more than 28) at the Mark-Addy B&B, a lovely place up the road from Wintergreen. Dinner will begin at 7:30. Valentine and her +1 have recently had dinner at the Mark Addy and gave it glowing reviews!
Here are the choices for entree -
1. Tuscan Lamb Chops - made with the finest New Zealand lamb marinated in the old Tuscan tradition. ($25)
2. The Fountain Chateaubriand Tenderloin Filet Mignon braised and grilled in Port Demi Glaze. ($29)
For what it is worth: The food at the Stoney Creek Bar & Grill which is about seven miles from the lodge where we will be staying is quite nice. Plant Pixie and I had lunch there last Sunday. The local brew (Star Hill) is pretty tasty.
That is an option. But wait to see what Ms.Perky can arrange.
The accomodations will be very nice, including spa options for those that wish to be pampered.
There are a couple/or maybe more wineries in the area. I know there is a Wintergreen Winery and some others there, but I've never checked them out. I'll make a trip or two up there over the next couple/months to check things out more thoroughly. Wintergreen is about 40 miles from my home.
A group car wash? Nnaahh! A limbo contest? Nnaahh! A tailhook gauntlet? Nnaahh! A chin-up contest? Nnaahh! Twister? Nnaahh! Beer chugging contest? Nnaahh!
I need to think more constructively. This is sounding more up-scale, exciting, and fun every day. It really is people being with friends, isn't it? Kudos to the organizers.
