Wink Got my S2000!

Picked up my S2k yesterday ex-demo Silverstone with red & black and 2500 miles on the clock.

Initial impressions:
  • So much lighter and more agile than the 350Z, better steering and chassis feedback; a proper sports car rather than a thuggish GT.
  • Nowhere near as much low end grunt yet not really a problem - just requires a change in driving style and it's far from gutless at low revs;
  • That roof is damned quick! Timed it at seven seconds including undoing the latches!
  • The missus loves it! She's a complete petrolhead too - I'm sooooo lucky
  • VTEC is fun
  • Handles impeccably in the wet provided you don't drive like a complete hooligan

As I was driving to the dealership I was wondering if I'd made a serious error in deciding to swap the 350Z for an S2000, but once I was driving her, roof down towards looming storm clouds, it all made perfect sense

Took her our for a blast today and got chased by a Bentley Arnage! All I can say is bloody hell - for a stately home those things are fast! Got up to 1.2 units before running out of road and couldn't lose him!

Didn't know about the running in instructions when I tried a certain Midlands dealerships demo S2000 & consequently thraped the nuts out of it with zero miles on the clock

I have both... the 350z is erm... ok the S is OMG!!

Was watching some Top Gear classics earlier where Clarkson slagged off the 350z (I didnt know it was a French engine???) and couldnt say enough about the S2000.... infact if you buy the Top Gear mag today you will see the S2000 is still no.1 out of 159 tested cars... i think thats now 4 years running!

One of the many reasons I went for the S over a Boxster S

It had crossed my mind that it will have been driven by any number of test pilots with no comprehension of mechanical sympathy. However, I also figured that's what the warranty's for and having over four grand off the price was a reasonable gamble. Anyhow, Honda's VTEC engines are indestructible, aren't they

There's also a school of thought that says a good thrashing will run the engine in better - provided it's properly warmed up first...

The Boxster S was the only other car I seriously considered. Great car, but a bit too clinical and the running costs were too high.

I did, at the insistence of a mate (who kept banging on about how good they were), test drive a 3 litre Beemer Z4. All I can say is Has to be one of the dullest cars I've had the misfortune the drive.

My house mate has the Z4, its bland, boring, dull, cramped... as you can see.. i dont like it.

Although i did see a 55 plate yesterday in Black with nice rims, Red leather and the Schnitser (what ever) kit and it looked nice.

Congrats on the pruchase. It's always good to hear someone who has owned both give such a +ve feedback of the S even though she's and "old" gal now (or would classic be more appropriate in these fast times?). Makes me feel even better again about my car.
