Shell had a press and internal launch for the new V power fuel, lots going on outside head office but i arrived late so missed most of it, they were then heading off in cars and helicoptors to snetterton for a full two day race with lots of fezza's and other top brands.
the new fuel is 99 ron and has other additives in it to help engine life, couldnt get much information out of the guy but he said he would send me a press pack when he came back from the track.
didnt get to take any of the F1 cars or much else pity as some great cars on show, and having a little fun. anybody else get to get any?
Octane Numbers
Usually, there are three different octane numbers associated with all petrols. Petrol's Research Octane Number (RON) is measured under simple test conditions. Petrol's Motor Octane Number (MON) is measured under tougher test conditions and at higher engine speed and temperature.
The average of these two values is what becomes related closer to actual driving conditions. This value is known as the Road Octane Number, and is what should be used in filling stations.
Occasionally, some filling stations will confuse these different octane numbers in a bid to embellish on their octane rating claims, and advertise their fuel's Research Octane Number, which is higher than the Road Octane Number. In many European countries, the Research Octane Number is advertised on pumps, so a much higher octane value is common when travelling in certain countries.
Still dont think it will give any noticebale difference even if you map for it. Maybe 1 or 2 bhp and no body can notice that.
Touch better margin for knock. On a turbo, I can see a few bhp being extracted. Got to see the difference on PC when mapping 95 vs 98 and it was interesting!
