So i got home and a trail of oil was following me to my drive way. Popped the hood and there was a leak on the oil pressure outlet. Added 3 qts of oil and started it up again and the oil came leaking out of the oil pressure outlet. What should i do? Theres a crack straight across. Thinking of getting it welded. Any alternatives besides replacing the block and rebuilding the motor?

Have you been the only owner. It looks almost like someone installed a tapered fitting and screwed it in too far and stressed the hole. I've never seen anything like this.
I suggest you consult an engine machine shop to see what they think.

 

That can be welded and retapped, but I think the block will have to come out and taken apart to do the job right. Good luck.

I don't actually think you'd need to rebuild. I imagine someone with skills could tig weld that back together then you'd drill it back out.

It depends on where it is in the engine, if you can take the oil pump off and get behind that outlet from there, you should be able to weld, re-drill and re-tap it and keep the filings out of the rest of the engine. That's the whole issue, keeping metal shavings out of the engine when you do this repair.

If you can't get behind it without taking the motor apart then yeah, it'll have to come apart and probably need to be pressure-washed out before re-assembly.

You can always just buy a pre-built shortblock for $2200 or so.

Before I did that, I might try looking at how deep the hole is and see if there's enough meat to perhaps screw in a tube of some kind with an oil pressure adapter brazed to it. Then maybe just JB weld up the cracked part.

 

What kind of shop or person should i go to?

 

That, I don't have an answer for. There's nobody local to me I'd trust to do this. Certainly, it's not a dealer thing.
