Default best "single body" suspension system for racing?

I didn't realize NASA would make me add weight due to the KW3's reserviour..... so I am going to remove them and put something else on. I already have to weight 2800 due to the 2.2L engine.....

anyone have any suggestions. i was actually fine with Tein RA's on my previous car but i am sure there is something better for a "reasonable" price ????

I don't want to spend $1k per corner....

thanks.....

Good question. I've known folks that were reasonably happy with the Tein RA setup so it may be a good compromise.

Anyone ever heard feedback on the KWV2 setup? If you're happy with the KWV3, then I'd look into those as well.

Bilstein PSS9? I'm not sure if it's remote reservoir or even has a sufficient damping range to do well on the track.

Does JRZ do a single body shock? Probably $$$ if they do?

Keep in mind some of the single bodies with a wide damping range could be able to match higher spring rates and/or could be custom-valved. In this scenario, your budget objective may be unachievable.

**EDIT: Just checked the Tein site and the N1 is a single body racing damper. Price = $2800 MSRP about the same as the SRC.

That's easy. KW competiton's. They are an upgrade to the V3's, you can run high spring rates, aka 800-1100lbs if needed/wanted, and have no remote.

Dave Karner used them, so they can't be all bad. I think they run $2800 list.

JRZ also does the RS versio for about 3K without remote. It's a double and adjusts just like the Kw's.

Scot,
The Koni 28 series are a monotube shock with no reservoir. They will not fit in the budget you suggested, but are the best option you have.

However...
The non-reservoired JRZ singles are not in the same league as the reservoired ones. Honda Challenge needs to emerge from the dark ages with their suspension restrictions (among others). Have you thought about petitioning the regional sanctioning body? I bet that ruling was made with the intention of keeping costs down (abject myopia?). Since you can't find anything off the shelf that will work really well, you'll either be potentially spending as much on non-reservoired shocks without the benefit of the reservoirs, or purchasing inferior non-reservoired shocks that are slower.

Glad you are back.

in one of the magazines they did a test with a pro driver driving a bunch of different S2000's, including Karners...... the guy said it was WAY too stiff and he thought it could get at least a second faster with softer springs.???

Pierre Kleinubing?

Karner's car started with KWs but ended the season with something a little more refined

You should be able to do the "older" (only DA) Koni 28's for about $750/corner. ProPartsUSA has done at least 4-5 sets for S2000s at this point...
