The Driver's Edge
First of all Happy New Year!
I'm posting this up because you have 3 months to save and get ready for this event. I'll be going again, and I'm pretty sure Anthony will be going again too. Once you do this event, you'll see why.
The price has gone up some for the drivers needing an instructor in the car. The price is $295 before any group discounts. You will also need to get your car inspected by an ASE certified mechanic before the event. That shouldn't cost much. Helmets are required and rent for $20. Best to reserve a helmet when you register because they were out when I got there. You'll need extra oil, but most any fluids can be purchased at the track or close by in Benbrook or Ft. Worth. I have a torque wrench, tire guages, etc. so you really don't need any tools.
You will need gas money and a place to stay. The Motel 6 close to the track is fine and was like $119 for 2 nights for 2 ppl. There are other hotels an exit down on I-20 if you want something more upscale.
The ONLY mod you need for a noob is to replace your brake fluid, and make sure your brake pads have at least 50% thickness. Tires should be in decent shape but nothing fancy is required.
I know Bobby and others have incurred unforseen expenses related to their cars lately. Other than necessary repairs, put off that next parts upgrade and join us at the track. Upgrade the driver.......this will make you faster and safer.

I will be there for sure! Already put the date on the calender! What type of classes are we looking at? Stock class, mod. class, expert class? How many do we need to get the group discount? On the inspection, where can we get this done and do we need some sort of paperwork saying we have got it done? I also need a roomie! 119 is too much to fork out by myself
I can't wait for this event!

1) you will be in the green class with me which is basically beginner. THey usually dont sign ppl off solo until 4 or 5 events. Classes are divided by driver skill, not by car type.
2) need 10 to get a group discount although we may be able to piggyback on another group like we did with the E Tx guys last time.
3) The inspection form is on their website. It's very basic. Im not sure the cheapest place to get this done yet because I got to do my own last time since I'm less the 10K mi on my car.
4) Prob most of us will have roomies. We can work it out later on depending on how many peeps go.
