I revived this old post to hep those who will be installing the JDM clear side markers. Although these instructions were written and photographed for the installation of the flat side markers we used to sell (but abandoned because of quality issues), the procedures are essentially the same for any kind of marker.

Rest assured -- this installation is really quite easy and requires little mechanical skill to do. And you don't need to remove the fender

Here are the steps to install:

1. To remove the stock marker, push/slide it toward the front of the car then pull it out from the rear end first. Be careful not to scrape the wire on the sharp edge of the sheet metal.

2. Remove the wire plug from the stock marker. The plug is anchored by a tab (pictured below) that locks onto the marker assembly. Holding the marker on one hand, use a small screwdriver to depress the tab. The plug will then come off easily.





3. If you have to let go of the wire connector for any reason, be very careful not to let it slip back into the fender well, because it may be very hard to fish out. As an extra precaution, you may want to attach a spring clamp to it if you have to let it go.



4. Plug the connector into the new marker, making sure the tab locks into place. Before installing the marker, operate the turn signal to be sure the marker is working.



5. The marker is now ready to install. On one end of the marker you

Just a quick dumb question, if you get the clear side markers but leave the same (amber) bulb in there, then the actual color of the light won't change, right?

If you want to have white/halogen turning lights, just buy a new bulb (hardware store, or dealer, or where?)?

 

for a second there i thought that was a big ass side marker that you were putting there!

 

I got mine and put them on today. I like how it shows off the chrome S2000 logo behind it. It looks a lot better than that ugly yellow side marker!

Rick, i understand that you had to adbandon the flat markers in the past due to the quality issue, but has thier been any further research into that type of marker? Or for that matter has thier been any requests (on our part) to look into it?

The flat markers (made by a Twainese manafacturer, Sonar I think, in both clear and smoked versions) we sold for a short time were actually designed for Civics, but fit the S2000 reasonably well. They were not of the highest quality, but they were cheap.

In the end, we couldn't find supplies anymore, so we just couldn't sell them. I still have a set on my car and they've held up just fine for over two years. But they are a bit loose in the opening.

Since must people seem to prefer the JDM clear markers, we've seen no reason to pursue other options and, frankly, it's not for lack of trying. We've found no flat markers that fit the S2000 well out of the box.
