Guy nicked for doing over 170
Just heard on the radio news but I can't find a link to it online that a 33 year old man has been nicked on a country lane outside Abingdon doing 172 mph in a "
oops...
Before doing high speed runs it is always advisable to do a quick recce of the section of road that you are going to be using for 'obstructions'...
He will be on the register now... you know, the one that's worse than the sex offenders register... I think Brake set it up.
Will be interesting to see if he goes down considering there are no rooms left at HMP Hotels.

He's a porker driver so he would probably enjoy 'widening his circle of his friends' in prison.
It's totally irresponsible to take a car without permission...
And things could have gone horribly wrong.
But nothing did. So you would presume that conditions/visibility were fine and the driver/car could handle that speed.
I will not confirm this, but I have done a higher speed than that in a place I shouldn't have.
I did it at 2 in the morning. Was it reckless? I don't think so - there wasn't a car around for three miles in each direction. Not a built up area. In a car which could handle it.
I don't know whether to say 'bravo!' to the guy for driving safely at that speed, or chastise him because now he's been caught, ALL of us will suffer with another anti-speed load of bollox from Brake and the like.
As someone said on Pistonheads:
Would you rather have this bloke doing 172 in a Porsche, or have paedos on the streets? We know which one will definitely go to jail.

it's a big number
pretty hard to defend tbh
doesn't really matter whether it's Alonso behind the wheel of a Veyron
it's such an exaggerated flouting of the limit
that they'll have to hit him hard
