Default NEED HELP..... TORN TOP.....

I swear things couldnt get any worse for me and yet somehow they do...... so i was on my way to get some BK when I decided to put my top up b/c it is a little too cold tonight and well im looking over through the passenger window and notice something on the top as it is coming up to close i stop it and well to my shock i see a cut about 1/2 inch wide ..... when I get back home I decided to take a closer look and well personally it doesnt look like a knife cut or show any signs that someone didnt on purpose it just looks like the vinly ripped...... I really dont know what to do im going to try to get it warrantied, but I was hoping that someone knew a service manager somewhere that might make the process a little easier..... any help would be greatly appreciated..... the car is little over a year old and I take car of it better than I would my own child.....

yea its seems that alot of poeple are having that problem... i think it has to do genrally with the convertible and the way it retracts... i had the same little rip on the right hand side, the passenger side on my '02..
and one of my friends has the same.... go take it to the dealer and bring up the possible conclusion that it has to do with the way it retracts on all other s2000's.... its out of your control

yeah that's what im going 2 do b/c i checked my driver side are and the material is showing the same type of wear at the same spot as the passenger side so im sure it is material failure and/or the top is retracting poorly....

Ya I was about to say to take it to Brahman as Dario seemed to have good luck there. If not Eddie at Rick Case (Spoon S) might be able to help you out.

Can someone post a pic of where this is happening? Somehow I've dodged the bullet on this one so far. I did get my top slashed a few months back, but at that point the original top still looks just fine. I'm kind of curious if there is anything we can fabricate on those points to try to "band-aid" the issue.

Well I wont have a car for a week till the Honda rep takes a look at it, but the service manager said it will definitely be warrantied no matter what.
I'll try to described the area where its happening (sorry for the lack of pics..... its definitely a desisgn in the convertible top) if your sitting in the car u'll notice that the main support bar for the top that is completely exposed its right behind your head well if you look towards the ends of that bar you'll notice that the bar is crimped on both ends, well the crimp causes a pretty sharp corner to form and well everytime the top goes up and down the fabric rubs right into it(the tear usually occurs ahead of the crimp meaning towards the engine its about an inch or an inch and a half away from it) u can probably go and check your tops if your car is suffering from this then u should see signs of rubbing on the fabric usually a whites color or even slight tearing/ripping depending on how bad it is.
If someone takes a pic of the interior i will be able to point out the problem.....

Yup I had that, caught it just in time thanks to Dario let me know about it... The Modifry straps should help out once you get the car back. I also had some velcro (soft part obviously) taped to that area... So now the top corner rod on the top slides a lot smoother...

Is that the same hole everyone else is talking about? I'm noticing shiny spots right above the latches themselves (the part you latch down when you are raising or lowering the top). Anyone have any idea what causes that or a remedy? I don't see a point in getting a new top if its just going to keep happening.
