Default Finally installed my Alpine 9885 !

After living with a non-functional OEM radio for the past few weeks, I finally got around to installing my Alpine CDA-9885 head unit.

For those of you that aren't familiar with this unit, it is Alpine's 2007 replacement for the Alpine 9857. It's cheaper (I paid $275 shipped from Crutchfield) than the 9857, has the Biolite display and 3 8V preouts if I'm not mistaken. It also has these built in holiday and birthday reminders that I'm not sure if the 9857 had.

I complemented this with Modifry's wired DCI and a set of Alpine SPR-17LS component speakers.

Here are a few pics (Some aren't that terrific...forgive me!)

Dumb alpine. If you are going to have a headunit that can change the colors of the buttons, why not have it change the color of the display as well.... Looks awesome though. Im still kicking myself for not getting a biolite unit, but Im going to go with their new Ipod only HU, or, if I feel stupid, Ill get the F1 status HU.

I am finding out the 9857 doesn't have a crossover built in which
From alpine's site, it says the 9885 does have it. Also, it supports AAC. Not sure about the red but overall it looks like a nice replacement.

I bought the Ipod Full speed cable, which I ran over on the passenger side. If you look at the bulge over on the passenger side pocket, I have the Ipod cable slack in there.

I also installed the Alpine KCA-121B Auxiliary connection, which gives you a set of RCA inputs. They two are on the passenger side, and are easily accessible so I can connect an XM receiver, game console, etc.

You can change the color of the concave-shaped buttons to either red or blue.

I went with the blue to give it a more OEM look.

Good luck man, it's a nice radio....I'm liking mine so far!

I have a Kenwood 4 channel amp. Now I need a sub, sub box, and another set of speakers for the rear.

is it just the angle of the picture, or just me....Does the deck look tilted a little bit. I guess it would be clockwise. With the right corner a little lower than the left? Or am I seeing things?
