Default Honda PCX Oil Filter made by Fram?!

There is a discussion going on at BITOG about a guy that bought four 15400-PCX-004 filters from a Honda dealer. Two of them were made in Japan, and two were made in the USA.

We know that the Japanese filters are made by Toyo Roki, and the American PLM filters are made by Filtech/Fram/Honeywell. It appears that the supply of PCX filters is changing. Does anyone know something about this?

OH SNAP! That's a good find, I just ordered a 6 pack of these from H&A and they're all made in the USA!!

The last filter I had on the car was made in Japan. My filters say "Filtech" right on them so I don't think they're made by Fram. I know the Filtech PLM A01 filters are supposed to be very high quality, I would assume that the quality of these filters is also up to par. I'll take some pics of my filters and update this thread.

UPDATE: pics have been added

UPDATE #2: Here is a Filtech filter cut open from another member on BITOG. This isn't the S2000 filter but it should give us a pretty good idea of the kind of product we're dealing with here.

UPDATE #3: I have reviewed both of the filters and have submitted a review at the bottom of page 2. Here is a link if you're too lazy to scroll.

We need to cut one open before we have any definitive proof. There are a couple of great reviews of Filtech Honda filters on BITOG. The filter construction and the actual filter media both looked to be of very high quality on the Filtech filters that I've seen on BITOG. If the Filtech PCX 004 is anything like their other filters I don't think we have a thing to worry about.

I just checked my supply of filters and sure enough, found japan and usa ones.

On the sticker under the part number, my US Filtech filters have "6V1OU" and the Jap filters have "5K19U"

The one on the left is the old Filtec filter which is differen't, but still a good filter. The one on the right is the PCX filter by Toyo Roki. The PCX was designed to be used in the S2000. They are both good oil filters, but the PCX is spec for the S2000. Both have metal end caps, metal bypass valve's and good filtration.

Being that the S2000 has a high pressure oil system, the PCX has a higher pressure oil bypass spring/valve.

The Filtech has 6 holes and the Toyo Roki has 8 holes.

They can't be the same filter if they come from two differen't company's (the one's mentioned in this thread)

My car came original with a Toyo Roki from Japan 15400 PR3 004.

The 15400 PR3 004 is 100% identical to the Original 15400-PCX-004.
