Tnx for posting this as i'd not read about the filter loosening off, I checked mine today whilst it was warm and i could tighten the filter by hand.

Ive just made my own bracket as I dont want my S dumping its oil everywhere.

 

Did anyone else panic when they saw the amount of holes in the first three photos of the metal plate and Nigel's comment that in was "obvious" as to how to make it - I thought each hole was to be utilised (of unknown position) until I saw the 4th photo

The Galvanised strap I used just common builders bracing strap you can get at any builders merchants in various lengths, the various small holes you see are nail/screw holes for the fixing of it to masonry or wood joists.

You can use what ever material you want, but I used this because it wont rust and its cheap.

 

I was thinking more on the lines of having a wire run from the jubiliee clip to attach anywhere you like.

The way you've got it, the bracket is under compression (i.e. it pushes against the filter), which I guess will work just as well. I would have gone for something under tension round the other way so that it pulled the filter tight, and have some way of tightening it up.

Time for some DIY at the weekend I think.
