DIY: MC Vents -- A Cheapskate's Krankvents
First a little disclaimer XViper style:

After reading all the great testimonies from other board members about Krankvents, I decided to order a set. Unfortunately, either Kane.s2k's website wasn't working or they were out of stock.
I recalled I had read an old thread where s2ki member 'flexer' mentioned that McMaster-Carr carried parts where by you can make your own KrankVents for a fraction of the price. Intriged I pulled up this thread:

Wrote down the part numbers and practiced some Google Fu to get some second opinions on others who had tried the McMaster-Carr valves. Best I could find was surprisingly on the Dodge SRT forums, even more surprising the thread was pretty well written, so much for SRT-10 owner stereotypes.

Fired up, I headed over to McMaster-Carr: www.mcmaster.com. Luckily, they are local to me so picked up the following parts:
Part# 7775K63 Brass Spring-Loaded Piston Check Valve 3/8" NPTF Dryseal Male Connections, Viton Seat $22.92 each. You'll need 2 for $45.84.
If your running a big high boost turbo you might want to step up to the 1/2" valve.
Next you'll need some hose barbs too. Two 3/8" and two 1/2" female in 3/8" NPT thread.
Part# 5346K38 Brass Hose Fitting Barb X Female Pipe for 1/2" Hose ID, 3/8" Pipe
Part# 5346K55 Brass Hose Fitting Barb X Female Pipe for 3/8" Hose ID, 3/8" Pipe
Online McMaster only sells them in packs of 5 and 10. I heard you can get them at Home Depot and Lowes individually, but I was too lazy to make the run there.
If your really, and I do mean REALLY cheap, you can get away with just buying 2 barbs by attaching the larger 1/2" ID hose from the valve cover directly to the threads of the check valve.

Heavy Metal! Solid brass that is. Not as nice and shiney as the Krankvents, but they have impressive specs:
* Maximum Pressure: 1000 psi @ 400

Honestly I don't know what those people where complaining about. This is a noisey car. It just another sound in the engine bay, maybe a touch louder than the sound of your injectors, valves, and belts during idle.
They need to step on the gas or turn up their radio.

Updated with my first impressions. So far so good, no "chicken in the valve cover" sounds that Krankvent owners were complaining about.
Thanks! HAHA its not tinfoil it's actually heat shielding tape. I put it there to cover up the black duct tape that covered the marks I had there from the fan shroud rubbing on that hose.
