Just brought my car in for service, & got the service people to test for any clutch slippage. (The clutch has been slipping when I upshift for the past month - and no, I've never done a clutch dump before). He confirmed it by dumping the clutch at 3-4K rpm with the handbrake pulled up! He said normally the engine should stall, so here's a test everyone can try . Needless to say I got to experience the "smell". He said the clutch disc and the pressure plate wouldbe replaced. I'll have to check with him again if the flywheel and bearing will be replaced too.

My question is:
is there an upgraded pressure plate, and if so does anyone have the part no.? I tried a search, but couldn't find it. I did find the clutch disc no. from the TSB 00-054. My impression from the posts of the past year is that the weak link of the clutch is the pressure plate which cannot cope with the HP of this car. Am I wrong? Or is it the flywheel?

Anyone, please? Thanks in advance.

The new part is the disc only. And the TSB refers to (I believe) that noise that the clutch makes, not slippage. I think you might just be getting lucky on getting your clutch replaced due to slippage, since the clutch is a "wear item"...

My dealer (who DID replace the clutch due to the noise BEFORE the TSB was issued because I brought convincing proof -- testimony from this forum) told me that the window is not a warranty item. Its a wear item. However, I will be presing them on that over the next year or so... I guess I can see it both ways, but they should have done a better job with the design of the window...

My car doesnt appear to have the grind, which I guess is good. I was VERY surprised to get my clutch replaced under the "warranty"...
Maybe a TSB for the window?

I was told by the Honda guy in the "woodwork" (yes he does follow are board) that the original clutch disk was better than the new from a slipping stand point but was noisy. Knowing that, I still opted for the new part number when the dealer gave me the opportunity to up/down-grade.

Mine actually didnt have any slippage problems, but it was so noisy that.... well, you know...

the new disc has been very quiet. They used the same pressure plate, etc and only changed out the disc...

but I too have heard some people getting noisy NEW discs...

AP, after only 1300 easy miles on my car, I just experienced clutch slippage last night, and it's the only problem I have encountered on my car. If you get your clutch replaced, would you mind posting the results on this board? I am thinking about having mine replaced, but want to make sure that the replacement clutch (or additional parts) will resolve the problem.
TIA

HopkintonMA,

No problem, at this moment I'm trying to find out if there is an updated pressure plate being offered under the clutch replacement as indicated by some people. The service people are trying to find out from their end as well. Will let you know how everything goes. For the moment:

Clutch disc 22200-pcx-025 (updated)
Pressure plate 22300-pcx-005 (?updated)
Bearing 22810-pcy-003
Bearing #2 91006-pcx-008

Thanks to Rob (s2kmtl) for most of the part nos.

I have never seen a post regarding an upgraded pressure plate, only the clutch disk.

Chris,

I've been searching the archives and have found a couple of posts mentioning upgraded/updated pressure plates which were probably stated in the general context together with the updated clutch disc. Just wanted to make sure... and also wishful thinking
