I just got my wrecked 02 and it still had one headlight in it. When I pulled it out, it was all broken up behind and under it. I didn't see anything like a ballast/inverter.

I looked in the Honda service manual and it doesn't really show where it is!

Every one selling headlights calls it a ballast, but the manual only talks about a inverter. Are they both the same thing?
I did a search here and got lots of info about how they worked, etc, But couldn't find out where there located.

They are the same thing. They bolt to the bottom of the headlight housings. There is a thread on swapping 04 light for 02 light that has good pictures of the 02 balasts (inverters). See if you can search it up.

 

Here is a picture. Part number 5 is the ballast.

 

Now that makes sence. Theres a big hole about 6"x4" on the bottom side of the headlight housing. I was hoping at least the ballasts were still on my car, but it looks like no luck.

Have you fixed it already? Did you find the ballast or inverter? Try looking for another one maybe. And maybe upgrade your lights too.

It looks like I'll have to get both headlight with ballasts as well.
I just want to get the stock 02 lights.
But the one light that was in there didn't look like the Ap1 or Ap2.
It looked like a Ap1 with the amber lense removed. some one said it may have a Ap1 modified. Butch
