Dash board replaced---2nd time--results!
Last week I took my car in to Heritage Honda in Towson to have my dash board replaced. This is the second one I have had replaced. I noticed "bubbles" comming up from the padding and took it immediately to Heritage. My previous dash was replaced 6 months after being purchased due to a " dimple" near the edge padding near the window defrosters. Anyway, the job took a day and the results were better than expected. No defects or mess ups, a superb job. Steve, the lead tech supervisor had thier top tech working on it. He also said the previous dash was hand tightened which would have caused rattling...... I asked Mike Z. the Service MGR if he had replaced any other dashes and he called Honda to find out if any problems occured. He figured it might have to due w/ protectant applied might be causing the problem. I have heard from vinyl specialists that products w/ silicone may cause excessive wear---??--- Well, if anyone reading this has this problem or related dash problems, take it to your dealer and resolve it. Anyone in Md take it to Heritage Honda, they give superb service and no hassle.
Had my dash replaced last year due to "dimples". I don't know if it is still in search but a number of the early VIN numbers for MY00 had that problem. McNatt Honda in Lewisville replaced it w/o any problems.
I actually have a simple in my dash and will have it replaced before my warranty runs out. Another member on this board had his dash replaced, and it has nothing to do with the type of protectant used. On some S2K's Honda forgot to put an insulating material under the dash. The heat from the engine is what is causing these bubbles/dimples.
