Default Dash has indent and bubble in it.

I noticed a while ago that I had a small round shape indent on my dash, and a small bubble. I didnt think anything of it and I knew it wasnt caused by me, never had placed anything on top of the dash. Didnt bother me too much untill I saw another S2000 and it had the exact same problem but the location of the dent and bubble was over more to the driver side, and mine was more over to the passenger side airbag(this is all on the top part of the dash).

So I was wondering if anyone else has this problem, wanna know if this is a common problem with S2's.
Searched for anything about dash nothing cam up regarding this.

If you are using a suction cup mount for a radar detector, the suction cups act like a magnifying glass under sunlight. Enough heat will be transfered to the vinyl and cause the dash to bubble.

This is caused by a defective manufacturing process.

There is "outgassing" that is taking place causing the indentation and bubbles under the instrument panel outer skin.

I have seen this several times on other model cars.

If in warranty the dealer should replace the IP.

In most cases this is an infrequent occurance.

Do the cars that exhibit this problem have "build dates" that are close to one another?

Honda replaced hundreds of dash coverings for these problems (mostly in areas with high ambient temps) and I think it was primarily in the first two model years. I had mine replaced under warranty several years ago but even the new one has a couple of small spots that are not perfect.

Thats exactly it. I checked mine and its in the centre of the dash.

Worst comes to worst I'll replace the dash.

Had mine replaced under warranty last month (MY2000 with extended warranty). Just noticed yesterday that they made an absolute mess of my instrument surround. Not happy.

My 00' Silverstone, which was an early production S2000 had this problem. I had 2 bubbles on the hood above the instrument cluster. As my car was out of warranty the dealer would do nothing about it, I also informed Honda Canada and they had no other reports of this happening (so they told me) with other S2000's. I also had the bubbles in the headlight housing (passenger side) and the car only had 18,000 KM on it when I sold it. It was always stored indoors and we have little humidity here, early production S2000's can be a bugger. I swear mine was a Honda test mule. My 01' has been much better so far (knock on wood).
