I just heard a terrible, terrible story. My geologist's black lab got into some grapes. He ate probably a pound of grapes. He started to go downhill over the next couple of days. Gary took Marcel to the vet. The vet did bloodwork and said "This dog has kidney failure." He was referred to an acute care specialist who put Marcel on dialysis. $11,000 later he had to put Marcel down. Grapes are toxic to dogs' kidneys. Don't let your dog anywhere near grapes.

I am sorry to hear that. No grapes for my pups. Also, I have heard to not give them chocolate. I don't know if it harms them or not, but I make sure they never consume any.

Thats to bad. I give my dog grapes sometimes, did not know they were a problem. He loves em but I don't think I have ever given him more than about 3.

Eating a pound of them at a time is the problem. Lab's like to scarf food down like it's an Olympic event.

And as much as I love my dog, there's no way in hell that I would spend 11K on her.

My dogs love grapes and we've fed them to them for years. Actually we've fed them to all our dogs for over 20 years.

None have ever had a problem, but then again we only feed the 10-12 at a time. We toss them in the air and the dogs catch them.
