There's an S2000 owner on another forum who let this company borrow his car for a spark plug comparison research.

He's telling me that they dynoed an additional 18hp from this plug change on a stock S. I having a hard time believing it.

He's using something called a pulse plug. I'd post the plug website but I don't want to plug them

From what I've read, they are basically 33% more powerful than a normal plug, but a normal plug makes more than enough power for spark for our car, so they aren't worth the cost.

 

Here's their website and please everyone note.....this is not a recomendation but rather skepticism.

In theory that's awful cheap hp for the cost if it works and doesn't break off, fits right and all that stuff.

Once ignited, I don't see how the flame front propogation speed of an air/fuel mixture has anything to do with the wattage of the ignition source?

They claim 1 million watts over a time of 2 billionths of a second. That's 0.0005 watts per second.

They say a "normal" spark plug delivers 50 watts over 30 milltionths of a second. That's 0.0015 watts per second, three times as much total power as theirs.

 

It's probably junk science, like the turbinator. But let's give junk science a try:

I do like the video of the expanding flame front.

I've seen similar gadgets in another hobby of mine; muzzleloading rifles. That industry has come up with hotter, bigger flame front producing caps to ignite the charge. They actually do give a more efficient burn of the powder charge and I have chronographed higher muzzle velocity using them. Hmmm...
