Do they not have another runway that runs a different direction? I can't imagine expecting planes to land in those conditions on that runway.

I do have to say I am hearing people on the radio saying it was a lousy pilot, and I have to disagree that wind looks HORRIBLE. When jets land in heavy crosswind, they are supposed to come in a little sideways, touch the outside wheels down and then whip the nose around straight. Sort of crab walk the thing in. But there is just nothing you can do with that type of wind.

At work earlier I saw this video. Supposedly it was a 150mph crosswind.
