Default Retrospective Car Tax Unfair

"The MPs say they are concerned about the potential impact of a planned change in vehicle excise duty (road tax) which will see drivers paying more for more polluting cars registered since the end of 2001.

So far 35 Labour MPs have signed a motion calling on the Treasury to think again about the retrospective aspects of the policy.

They plan to warn the chancellor, when Parliament returns next week, that the government could lose votes over the issue."

Story From BBC

I think it is time for Darling's resignation.

It's the naivety of these people that gets me.

They seem to want us to believe that the environment will be saved if we dispose of perfectly servicable vehicles and waste resources building brand new ones that will be slightly more efficient?

All Brown seems to have done is nibble away around the fringes of everything and at last he's being found out, along with his puppet chancellor.

Right at the start he raided pensions and demanded the windfall tax on utlities, in yet it's taken until now for people to realise what is going on.

Intersting times ahead. The Labour muppets are certainly seeming worried now.

I hope it sinks the lot of them.

But who would you honestly want to take over? The motorist will always be shafted by any government - we're too soft a target not to.

Until there's a party who clearly states they will put the motorist below rapists murderers and kiddy fiddlers in the public enemy stakes, I won't be voting at all.

It's the old story - select the one that seems as if they will be the least damaging.

This government is falling apart under their own ownership - and I think they themselves are starting to realise this.

Be funny to see how far the rot sets in before they call for a new leader (officially).

Using manifestos etc in selecting who to vote for is a waste of time anyway. They are all lies and bullshit.

Personally I will be voting for whoever I think can oust Labour. Not because they will do a better job, but because Labour have treated us all like shit and deserve to be punished.
I am not naive enough to think it will be any different with the Conservatives, but if they see that the British public will no longer tolerate being treated like idiots, and second class citizens they might well think twice before doing the same thing.

Just a thought.

That attitude is why Boris is now the most powerful Tory in the country.

I can't say I'm surprised, I have no doubt that Gordon has no idea why people dislike him so much . I bet Blair is laughing his arse off at the moment as well!

And hence you have no right to whinge about it.

If there is no-one you like, null your vote (Fill every box with an X).

That way, you haven't voted for anyone specific, but you have voted.

Unoffically, a null vote is a vote of no confidence anyway.

At the recent by-election, I voted to reduce tax on Petrol and Diesel knowing full well he wouldn't get anywhere.

My vote was counted though and that makes a difference.

That's right; I cannot feel anything but schadenfreude, for all those idiots that voted for this lot, or who didn't vote at all.

The last time in the 70s showed that their lefty muddle-headed thinking ties everything up in knots, so the outcome was entirely predictable. We haven't reached IMF stage yet, though.

At least the other lot are more openly, honestly crooked, somehow. And smaller gov't allows us all to breathe a little.

That's all I hope for.

As everybody above seems to agree, doesn't matter who's in, they're all politicians.

But a smaller govt. at least allows me more freedom to live my life, spend money where I want to instead of where nanny tells me it's best spent and doesn't spend my tax on 'Left-handed Ginger Lesbian Outreach Co-ordinators'.
