Sad day in music
DMB is a band i've followed for years, been to 30 plus shows, just love these guys and had some of the best times in my life at their shows. Leroi Moore their sax player died last night and i guess the band will never be the same again.
As jam bands go people either get it them or not, but to each his own. I've Always been stirred by the combo of amazing lyrics with rather simplistic rifs and jams and Leroi sax always gave them a unique sound.
We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. LeRoi had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.

Just heard about this a couple mins ago from my bro, still can't believe it as last i heard he was doing fine and was flying out to be with the band for the show last night. The band actually still played the show last night 2.
But I'm with you Andy, DMB will always be an inspiring sound to me.. Leroi was definitely a big part of what made the sound unique.
RIP

Yeah... i've seen them in stadiums and small venues (Hershey was always a fave) small venues were always great.
They will likely always tour, they after all are a touring band but it will never be the same without LeRoi... he never said much, never danced around like Dave and Boyd or jammed like Carter but dam he gave those guys a unique sound Playing that huge sax on two step or the penny whistle on say goodbye...

I saw very upset when i heard the news today, by far the most inspirational band in my life.
I'm going to see them at the Garden in September. I did hear that they played in his honor last night, i'd assume they had a fill in for this summer tour.
RIP LeRoi
