Haven't been able to find much audio info here, but wanted to ask about these good looking headrest speakers. Anyone here have them that could give me their honest opinion of how they sound/quality //// Thanks
I have them, and no their not worth $400.00. However, after i put in
an Alpine head + amp, they do sound pretty good. All they are is tweeter's. So if your not going to up grade your whole system, dont bother.
+1 on the s pods.if you do a search on ebay theres a guy that makes something simular to the s pods but a whole lot cheaper.you can also order them to fit a 6 and a half and a tweeter.they mount in the roll bar holes
I have them, and have yet to hook them up because i dont have the harness that goes from the seat to the headunit Can anyone help me with my situation?
The headrest are not worth $400, but they do make a huge difference. I had Infinity Kappa Perfect components with a 400 watt amp and there was a night and day difference once I added the headrest speakers. I took two sets of 1" infinity kappa tweeters (2 tweeters per seat) and put them where the factory headrest speakers are supposed to go. Then made my own covers out of fiberglass and some nice vinyl to cover the fiberglass. This way I didn't have to fill the roll bar or whole in the seat. I did put an amp on them though, they are running about 100 watts per pair.
rear channel speakers are the best bang-for-the-buck you can do for the S2k in terms of loudness (being able to hear @ cruising speed w/top down) over stock. The stock headrest speakers are crap.
Go with the S-pods, or a set of Lucid's rear panels (puts speaker in panel right behind seat).
As far as the harness goes, there is no harness. You will have to PIN the positive and negative speaker wires into the OEM Honda harness behind the CD / radio. If your car is new enough to have the headrest speaker option from the factory, the sires will be PIN'd already, so you just need to connect the pig tails to the wire length running to the speakers...
PM me if you need a pic of the harness with the appropriate PIN's to tap into (if needed).
Amping helps out a ton in terms of SQ (and loudness), but the gain from an extra channel inches from your ear greatly outweighs any gains associated with an amp (unless you go nuts, which I get the impression you do not).
