Putting in a custom sub box in the tool well. What to do with the amp?
I'm puttingin a custom fiberglass box with 2 8'' subs. I am flushing the tool compartment with the rest of the floor and subs. The question is where would you put the amp?
My installer put mine, yesterday, inside the spare tire mounted on a circular board covered with auto carpet material. You lose the bolt that holds the spare in place but it is wedged in tightly enough to suit me.
I just swapped out an Alpine MRV-T407 and put in a JL Audio 250/1 in its place. Both fit great.
It also can be mounted over the gasoline tank to the left of the spare tire.

The amp is connected to the actual trunk "chassis/form" using brackets: 2 up top, and 2 down low. The changer is mounted right up against the panel you see there.
The panel is made of wood (I forgot the specifc name for that composite, dense wood), with holes drilled across throughout the board to allow for as much bass to vent into the cabin. Then the entire thing is covered in grill cloth to hide the holes.
My installer also drilled holes in the convertible panel/"well" to again, allow as much bass to make it into the cabin...it also serves as a dual purpose to protect my rear window since the panel is now covered in grill-cloth too!
Here's a couple pics of that panel:

Hope this helps!
