yes....if run a quality synthetic like Mobil 1 EP, Amsoil, or Redline, and you can extend your change intervals to 5k or more (run a UAO to be certain)

With synthetic oil you can get at least double the mileage out of your oil. Keep it topped off and change it at least every 12 months, with a filter change every 6.

I change oil and filter every 6 months. It usually works out to 5k-7k miles. Call me progressive, but changing your oil every 3k miles is a waste of time imo, especially with synth oil that doesn't break down as fast as dino oil.

I change my M1 10w30 every 7k and my Blackstone UOA says I still have life left at that interval.

If your car is getting a steady diet of trips longer than 1/2 hour and getting a fair amount of highway miles, then extending your OCIs with a good synthetic oil is fine. If your car gets primarily short trips, spends a lot of time idling, or only gets 3000 miles a year, then you are better off shortening up your OCI.

I'm using Amsoil 0W-30 with mostly highway miles and I went 24,000 miles on my last oil change. This time, I'm going to 30,000 miles. My last UOA shows that my oil is still in great shape (I'm using a bypass filter, so extending my OCIs this much isn't as extreme as it seems).

That's nuckin futs. Never heard anyone pushing it that far. If you're getting UOA's and it's good tho then wow. I might have to switch to Amsiol after all. I'm using Havoline 10-30 GF-4 and change it every 3-5k miles.
