The Cobalt now performs better than the S2000 CR?
The latest issue of Car and Driver includes a massive comparison test called the Lightning Lap in which 22 cars are raced around Virginia International Raceway. The Cobalt SS Turbo beat the S2000 CR around the track! Not just the S2000, but the freakin CR?
Shame on you Honda for not improving the S2000. Now econoboxes are running down our beloved car.

Cobalt = 3:13
S2000 CR = ?:?? (I couldn't find the time but I read that it was slower than the Cobalt's)

The cobalt has a stout, reliable 260hp turbo motor. Apparently the suspension engineering on it has been highly improved via nurburgring testing.
It may be a chevy, but unless you've driven one, I wouldn't down it. It's incredibly respectable.
The thing that kills the S is power. 240hp just doesn't stack up very much anymore.
But in the end, everyone will say "but it's a chevy, and you have an S2000" while it may be true.....for a bit less money, the Cobalt would make a fun bone-stock road racer.
That being said.....I'm not about to sell my S2k to buy one, LOL

The thing that kills the S is torque. 156 for AP1 and 162 for AP2.
Anyway, if you read the article in the mag, they point out that the CR's brakes got faded quickly, so I'm assuming it was a used CR that had been driven a lot.
Cobalt has monoblock Brembos on it so that certainly helps.
Torque doesn't kill the S. If properly driven, you're above 6krpm on a road race track at all times. On a traditional dyno, torque and hp cross at 5252rpm. Figuring at that point anyways torque is either linear or decreasing, you're working on the HP the motor develops there.
