Red face ** VIETNAM Port Visit PICTURES! **

Only 1 US Naval Ship a year is allowed into the Communist Country of Vietnam. My ship was fortunate enough to be selected this year.

It took me 3 days to find a Mom and Pop's local PHO shop but I finally found one with the help of a local street vendor. The PHO is very good. The veggies and fixings are all you can eat. The only thing it was missing was the tripe but the broth was very flavorful and it was served extremely hot. Everything taste better when your eating it on a side street sweating your ass off.

If Vietnam was not a communist country, I'd definately consider retiring there. I'm definately adding it to my list of "Must go back" countries to vacation once I retire.

Enjoy!

Tim

Vietnamese required us to fly their colors during our entire port visit. We were specifically told that no US flag could be flown "higher" than their flag and that their flag was to stay up 24 hours a day. We countered with leaving ours up also and not lowering it at night. There is still A LOT of tension between our two countries.

The converstion rate is 16,000 "DONG" to the US Dollar.

The PHO was 20,000 DONG.
