Default AP2 front bumper conversion question

I've been digging through previous posts for a couple hours now and still have a question. I just ordered all the parts I need (hopefully) to do the ap2 front bumper conversion on my ap1 except for the ap2 splash shield (hopefully I don't regret that). Here's my question.

When it comes to shaving the front bumper beam down to avoid the two dimples, is it possible to hammer the corners down instead of shaving/cutting them? I only have access to basic tools and was wondering if there was any other way to avoid getting these dimples and perhaps causing cracks later down the line. Thanks for your help.

Any other things I should look out for? I know I'm going to have to rig something up since I'm not changing the splash shield.

First, you don't need the rubber splash shield...the installation might be easier with it but you can definitely get around it. As for hammering, I would not do it.

Anything else to look out for? Just be careful handling the bumper. It's very light but extremely wide.

Thanks for your response, what would you suggest in order to take the size of the corners down? Am I going to have to get some new tools?

Run a search, you'll have to cut it on an angle.

No alternative... you'll NEED to cut and a good amount too. It's like cutting a corner of a square... you'll probably need to cut about 2-3".

i didn't have a tool to cut so what i did was buy one of those metal bars with ridges that act as a sandpaper (i forgot what the name of it is) to shave it down. it might take a lil longer than cutting, but you won't have to spend as much.

You don't need to cut it. Just hammer it down a half inch. To make it easier, I dremel'ed a slit and then hammered.
