Yeah, I used a dremel with a cutting wheel... it didn't take long at all.

I wish I took better pictures but here is what my rebar looks like (I had the front bumper off to do the AP2 headlight swap).

Nice, thanks Keith, were your headlights off when you used the dremel or did you just cover them with something to somewhat protect them?

Make sure after cutting or hammering spray some rust proof paint.

On... you won't need to worry about covering them up... but if you want, you can remove the rebar (bolted on by a few bolts) and then cut it away from the car.
