MY2002 motor. Details: This motor was starved of oil in April 2007, which resulted in damage to most of the main and rod bearings. I pulled the motor and replaced all the bearings, took the head to Dover Cylinder Heads for replacement of all the valve retainers and keepers. They gave the valves and all other head parts a clean bill of health. I also had them polish the crankshaft as well. During the rebuild, I replaced the oil pump, all oil seals, all gaskets and the thermostat. After the motor was reassembled and installed in the car, it ran fine for about 6k miles before it started randomly pulsing at idle like it was misfiring. No misfire sounds could be heard, and it never threw any diagnostic codes. I could also hear a very low volume knock. Rather than deal with pulling and rebuilding again, I dropped a junkyard motor in my car. My suspicion is that the oil starvation incident damaged the crankshaft, but I have not confirmed that. The motor made normal power (buttdyno) and had good oil pressure when pulled. I have not taken it apart yet. As it sits, it is missing the coilpacks, alternator, AC compressor, clutch, flywheel, and starter. It has an F22c sparkplug cover. Asking $1500 as is with no guarantees. Should be a good candidate for a stroker or FI build, as the cylinder walls, rods and pistons all looked good during the rebuild.
