Default HONDA, F1 no more

Just as well because they have sucked since taking over BAR. They are pulling out completely, will not even provide engines. But they will be back. They left before and they always came back.

I wonder if Honda would still be around if they had any sponsors like the rest of the F1 teams.

A lot of what Honda has learned by participating in Formula 1 was put into the design of the S2000...

Being happy about Honda pulling out of F1 is like being happy about NASA stopping space exploration and development. You don't realize how many everyday things wouldn't exist without the participation in advanced technology development...

Either way, its a sad day for Formula 1 racing, and a sad day for racing fans in general. As sad as this news is, I applaud Honda for making the right choice in trying economic times. Not only is it financially straining to run an F1 team, with the new "stock car" rules coming into play in the coming years, any benefits from developing and racing an F1 car have been thrown out the door. I think Honda's departure marks the beginning of the end of Formula 1 as we know it. I wouldn't be surprised to see the majority of teams in F1 gone in 2-3 years.

The past few years of racing in F1 have been the best since the days of Senna and Mansell. Now they want to throw it all away. I hope this stupid standardized chassis and standardized engine BS goes away in a few years, when that happens I look forward to watching F1 again, and for the return of Honda to F1.

Good move for Honda.

Bernie shot himself in the head when he allowed both North American races to go away. With the US being Honda's biggest market and the falure of the team to perform, Honda should have done this midway thru the 08 season.

"FIA president Max Mosley said the body was in exclusive negotiations with Cosworth, Xtrac and Ricardo Transmissions (XR) to provide a complete powertrain (engine and gearbox)."

A couple of other teams have already said they will also pull out of F1 if Max goes thru with this cost cutting move. Ferrari says they have no reason to be in F1 if they can't use their own engines. So is F1 doomed?

$5M isn't going to go very far in trying to develop a new car!

Okay, I understand this but how often did Honda implement these technologies to us? Once every 10 years??
