Forbes had an article on this today as well. They say Honda will save between $300-440M on this. At those prices how will Renault and the rest get through it?

 

Sad as this is, at least Honda wont be requesting a bailout in the mother country.

 

 

^^What are the rolling eyes for? Honda is doing the prudent thing. It is a well managed company that realizes it is not viable at this time to spend hundreds of millions on a racing program. Unlike our domestic manufacturers who even today Dec 5th 2008 are spending millions and millions on US racing programs. They are the core of nascar, nationwide and the craftsman truck series. Along with large sponsorship $ being spent in lesser series.

All while sitting in washington today Dec 5th 2008 begging for a bailout!

Bottom line is Honda is a well managed company and the steps they have announced today fortifies that and there longterm survival..

 

I am not surprised since they never went for a sponsor and they were not competetive.

Even Ford and Chevrolet will eventually have to decide on the extent of their future monetary support of racing if nothing changes soon.
