Wasn't the s2000 f1 inspired? Hopefully that doesn't mean that the s2k and a new platform will get canned with the f1 exit...

Audi also announced they are pulling out of ALMS next year.

I believe Motorsports in general are either going to completely transform in the very near future or could face extinction.

For every company that sponsors a car in ANY racing series, they have to be able to justify that cost to their stockholders. Thats tough to do when your company is laying off people, the stock is tanking and you're fighting for survival. That leaves the uber-wealthy to play only, and I can't imagine they would throw money away - thats counter-intuitive for people who have it.

"The difficult decision has been made in light of the quickly deteriorating operating environment
facing the global auto industry, brought on by the subprime problem in the United States, the deepening credit crisis, and the sudden contraction of the world economies."

Honda must protect its core business activities and secure the long term as widespread uncertainties in the economics around the globe continue to mount.

So basically they are jumping out of the game because of us. I am glad to see them leave f1. From what I remember when they were following it they never did that well. My dad follows f1, and I do once in a while, but from what I have been hearing I think f1 might not exist in a few more years.

I believe Ferrari is cutting way back as well for the same reasons. Do you think the idiots running US companies will follow suit.

It will be interesting to see how NASCAR fairs in all of this.
