Sickkkk! Ok, now can pull a jetski? If yes. You think I will have any problems when you back in too put the jetski into the water??
Then I'm movin and want to get a inclosed uhall trailer. Want to put my bike and some things I have in my room that i'm bringin.. How much can the s2000 push?
Not sure what you are planning to tow. The Chase Hitch ($400 + S&H) is a good one, and is designed for the 2004-2008 model S2000. A lot cheaper and "do-able" is the Curt hitch available at J C Whitney ($135 free shipping) .... you just need to cut a hole in the rear bumper valance as shown in one of the s2ki links above...
From what was told to me, about 200lbs was the MAX tongue weight you'd want to go with, and the number was something like 1000lbs gross trailer weight...
The s2000 swas never designed to tow ANYTHING. Its one thing to have a small car the size of an S2k, or a small pickup truck that was at least designed with the thought in mind that it may actually tow something one day... but the S2k wasn't designed with that in mind at all.
However, given the fact that there are now hitches made for it, i REALLY feel that due to the attachment points of the Chase Race, it would by far be the strongest and the most capable hitch to carry the wieght of a full size pwc on a trailer...
Not sure if i'd try it personally. I myself tow a traielr that weighs in by itself around 200lbs, and its cargo is about 240lbs or so... and the tongue weight is about 40lbs or something minimal.
I just see people towing boats in there s2000 that have to weight more then 2000lbs and mine will only be like 1300lbs tops.. Can I really hurt the car by pulling a jetski and trailer?
wheres that pic of the stack of plywood sheets on top of a VW....
Just cause you see others doing it, doesn't mean it is good for the car. They could be doing damage that they don't even know about to not only the car structure, but also the clutch (which wasn't really designed to engage that sort of load either), the transmission, the increased wear on the rear diff, increased stress on the motor mounts, diff mounts, etc... It may not break or hurt itself the first time you tow with it, but what kind of damage is it causing that could affect you down the road?
Your call though... if you choose to go with it, just keep a very good eye on everything.
