Default Aussie Mirror Mod

I'm one of those folks that is bothered by the blind spot with the top up. Why didn't Honda do a 3 window top (Like a TR6 or a Mercedes SL)? They must have known they were gonna do a glass rear window. I saw the mirror mod in the FAQ, but I wanted a wider angle. My first solution was a stick on convex mirror. I hated it.

So I thought, can I get a convex LH mirror from a RHD car and put it on my US model ? I looked at a few web sites in the UK and AU and contacted Hondarec Wrecking Yards in AU. They didn't have a used part but provided me a new part for $42.62 US delivered. I thought this was a fair deal since the local dealer would want $25 plus tax for the flat US part.

Here is the view with the US Mirror:

Where is that Audi ?

Good hiding place !

Now with the Aussie mirror:

Notice it doesn't say "OBJECTS ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR" They must not have as many lawyers in Australia

For those interested here is the part number:

Honda Part 76253-S2A-003

I don't know if this part is just for AU or all RHD markets.

Here is the back of the mirrors, the US one says FLAT on it.

Maybe MUZ or Rick could offer this as a stock part. Installation is a snap(literally)

Hmm...Nerang. That's about 15 minutes from me. Might give him a ring and see if he has much in the way of S2000 parts.

Very wonderful for those who drive with the top up. I never do. However, like Muz, I know folks just a few minutes from Nerang on the Gold Coast. Maybe I'll get one.

European cars also have convex mirrors. I will be in the Netherlands next week, maybe I will pick one up. I have the stick on type, but the convex mirror would be better.
