Default Looking for an entry level SLR Help!

Hi everyone, I finally signed up for s2ki after 3 years!! Yeah!! Ha ha Anyway I' looking to buy a new camera, I want to get an SLR but I have no idea where to start and half the time the guys at Best but don't know what they are talking about. If I had to rate my experience level I would say it's a beginner /intermediate. I'm looking to spend around 400.00 and want to be able to take super close ups and normal pictures. Any ideas and suggestions would be awesome. Thanks!!

For that price I would recommend buying a used Canon 20D or 30D. Get more experience before you spend more money in lens and better body.

For me it comes down to nikon D40/D60 or canon EOS 450D cameras. Both are very good and there's not much between them. I got the 450D, love it

Do you want a FILM SLR or D(Digital)SLR?

Since you said SLR, I assume film. I recommend getting a used Nikon F4 for film. SUCH a badass camera and they can be had with a decent walk around lens for 400ish.
