any other novices fancy coming along to laugh at (encourage) each other??

Sounds like a great idea. I'm off to the Ring in the Summer so need some practice! It will be my first track day too, so will be laughing with you rather than at you!
Have you booked yet? I'll probably invite my friend and his MX5 along too. I may opt for some instruction...I'm be useless around the track otherwise.

MSE run really good airfield days.
Whatever you do, book some instruction. IME, not having it makes the day almost a waste of time.
For example, I was at Rockingham on Saturday with my mate, who's not done any track driving before. With me trying to help him, he was not very good at all, after one session of 20 minutes with the instructor, his driving was transformed and he had a far better day because of it.
As it's your first day, I'd recommend booking 2 sessions if you can afford it. One near the start of the morning, and one early afternoon. It'll make such a positive difference to your day.

It's all booked and we've both gone for an hours instruction each, spread across the day in 3 x 20min sessions..
i've done some track stuff on manufacturers days with toyota and vauxhall and the instructor was crucial...
Loftust... would be great to see you there.

The answer is "it depends" but I've never experienced too much wear so provided you have a good few mm left it shouldn't be a problem. Do make sure you have lots of brake pad left, especially on the rears. This is more important.

I'm all booked up too, along with the 3x 20 min instruction sessions...I'm really looking forward to it!
I've got fairly fresh rubber/discs/pads so should be ok...I'll bring some oil along too, although I'll be sticking some fresh Egde 5W-40/filter in beforehand...which I've yet to try.

Mine uses very little oil on track days, stop start in traffic is worse.
I think I used 100mm max on Saturday.
Keep an eye on the rear pads through the day and keep to a max of 20 mins at a time. Remember to do cool down laps and leave 20-30 mins between sessions as well.
