Default touring the south of Irealand

Me and the wife are planning a touring holiday in Ireland with the S for about 10 days this summer
. Something like:
Rosslare-Wexford-Waterford-Cork-Slartibartfarst fiddly bits-Limerick-Waterford-Rosslare.

What should/shouldn't I miss

Anyone done anything similar?

Yes, I go to South West Cork regularly - it's a fantastic part of the world. You used to be able to get a ferry from Pembroke to Cork, but that stopped ages ago. A shame.

Touring round the deep South is sublime. The scenery, the people, the bars!

If you make the effort, try Schull, Baltimore, Crookhaven and further round, the Dingle Peninsula is lovely. If the weather is good, you can't go wrong

West Cork/Kerry is a wonderful part of the world.

Keep your ear to the ground they are trying to get the Cork/Swansea car ferry going again. This would save you the spin up from Rosslare, but they have been talking about this for a few years so I wouldn't hold my breath.

There are some great roads over here for driving the 'S' but the surfaces can be a bit bumpy there is some info on THIS site.

Some of the places I would say are worth a visit along with the ones said already are...
Kinsale
Clonakilty
Glengariff
The Healy Pass (Click)
Kenmare
Killarney
Everywhere on the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula.

Eat lots, drink lots and enjoy

When are you planning on coming over?

Some pics.

Ladies View Killarney

The Moll's Gap to Sneem road(It has a good surface and is a great drive)

Glengariff to Kenmare(bumpy)

Inch beach on the way to Dingle

thanks for the advice. I have looked at google maps and the areas recommended, all look pretty impressive and empty, reminds me of Scotland

Petrol should be ok just be sensible take it when you can get it.

Road signs and sat. nav. in the more rural areas might not be what you are used to but that's part of the fun.

The speed limit is 100 KPM in general and 120 KPH on some of the larger dual carriageways. Most of the speed checks would be in the obvious places where they feel there is easy money to be made.

Yes the road's are that empty.

I agree

particularly like Kenmare as a base

it will almost certainly rain though

it's not that green by accident!

Healeys pass and Molls gap are 2 of the finest driving/ rallying roads in the country, I must try and get the S down that way over the summer myself
