Default construction

am redoing my whole kitchen and my bathrooms and well the construction person i am using plans on using $8-$10 square feet granite. i am not in construction so i have no idea but does this sound like cheapo granite to you? also take in consideration this is wholesale price not consumer price.

i am doing my whole kitchen with resuface my cabinets and redoing a stain and 2 bathrooms and 1 master bathroom. Everything is gutted and replaced. from the light fixtures to towel racks, and the floor with granite. he is quoting me $50k.

any input?

Re: the granite, the lesser priced granite is within the range you've stated with the higher end upwards of $50-60 s/f. This is just for material, installation is extra. Depending on where you live the 50k price could be high or low, I assume you received more than one bid on the project. Make sure you specify what type of fixtures, etc are used, there is a lot of differences (price/quality) from one brand to another. And this is where a builder can fudge his prices on you if your not careful.

50K is high. Ever consider trying to do it yourself? If there isnt any major electric or plumbing to do its not really that hard and it will save you a crap load of money.
