Default Driver's Side Window Not Working Right?

I have a 2002 with only 2400 miles on it. I've had the car for about four months, and all of a sudden, the driver's side window doesn't work properly. The "auto-down" feature doesn't work, so the window doesn't go down when you put the top down. If you push and hold the window-down button, then it will go down all the way.

It seems that a lot of other owners have had problems with the driver's window. I'm wondering how common this problem is. Perhaps Honda should put out a TSB for this problem too!

In the first few months of ownership (year 2000), would occasionally fail to come down all the way.

Then it "cured" itself, and hasn't been a problem since!

By the way, in a recent Acura NSX owner survey in Road & Track magazine, power window controllers were mentioned as high-failure items on that car as well (as you know, made in the same plant).

My 2002 had this problem at about 5,500 miles.
I ordered the window regulator and the day after the notice came in the mail that the dealer had the part, the stupid thing started working fine again.

I have also posted this question/thread because this fixing itself seems to happen not frequently but sometimes.

after dealing with the autodown feature not working for about a year I finally called the dealer to get it fixed. It was a freebee and I did have to wait since they were backorderd parts - so this is clearly an issue. I do know people have had these replaced on more than one occasion since the new part is exactly the same as the one they replace.

I too have had the regulator replaced. The window worked fine for 3 months then same problem. I am going to wait until the "FIX" the problem before I take it in again. Just willing to live with this "defect".

boiler, thanks for the info.

It's shocking to see that so many Hondas/Acuras have this problem. You would think that Honda would find a better fix to save money instead of always having to replace these regulators.

Although the poll only has 30 responses so far, 53.33% of the people who voted have had problems!

Funny timing, my 2002 with 4500 miles just developed this problem over the weekend. When lowering the top it actually lowers about 1" and then stops. When I use the power window button on the door it works fine. It only faulters with the auto down feature, and then about 70% of the time???

it is disappointing that such a unit has been problematic in Hondas and Acuras.

As for the poll, we do have to keep in mind though that the folks coming to this thread will be more likely ones that have experienced issues than the ones who's windows work fine.
