Default How do electronic window regulators fix themselves?

My driver's side window stopped going down all the way a week or two ago when I would lower the top. I have read this is a common problem so I had my dealer order me a new window regulator.

Yesterday all of a sudden the window started acting fine, like there was never a problem. Now one of the other S2000 owners in this area had the same problem only on his passenger's window and he had the same end result, after not working for a while it just fixed itself and is now fine.

So I'm thinking, how does it fix itself and should I go ahead and have it replaced?

Mine fixed itself after a couple of months. I wasn't looking forward to having some bozo from the dealer messing with the door anyway.

Palmateer, very interesting.

OK, so several of them have fixed themselves.
How, Why?

I have had the problem of the auto-down feature not working after removing the door trim (when I was installing new speakers). I have encountered it a few times and it always fixes itself after turning the car off and on again a few times... Very strange.

I too had the problem and it mysteriously disappeared. At first when the window would not go all the way down it would intermittently work. Now it works all the time

I think the window regulator problem has always been reported as intermittent; I know it has been for me. I've had mine replaced twice now. BTW, if you have yours fixed and wind up with a really annoying squeak, I can tell you what to do.

My driver's side window has only done it a couple of times. Always happens after raining when its muggy & humid.

At this point mine seems to be working just perfect.
I'm thinking I'm going to have my dealer hold onto the part and NOT replace my regulator.

I think it's water related too... cause mine started happening after I parked it after driving it in the rain.
