Default P1411 error

Hi guys,

My car had error codes P1411 and P1412. Having looked around I found that a fuse had blown for the air pump. After changing this and pulling the codes again the car only shows P1411.

Looking on the forums I could not find much information on this code. Does anyone have any ideas?

I suspect it relates to the air pump relay, I have checked the fuse in the relay already and that is fine...

In the FAQ's is a list of error codes. There is not one of P1411 but the nearest ones are...

P1410 Air Pump Malfunction
P1415 Air Pump Electric Current Sensor Circuit Low Voltage
P1416 Air Pump Electric Current Sensor Circuit High Voltage

So my money would be a Air pump related error. How about checking for a air leak in the system

What fuse did you check? one in under bonnet fuse box?

Did you check the fuse on the relay? - bit of a bugger to get to removing splash guard etc.

I had this weeks ago same code!, sorted it by checking wires (thought it was a connection) then it came back on.

TBH its not critical to the running of the car it wont effect anything.

Its only purpose it to be used at startup for 30secs, if the engine is warm (2 bars) engages for around 5 seconds then switches off.

Its only purpose is to pump in air into the exhaust system to heat up the CAT quicker at cold startup, CATS only start to work when HOT - after this its not used.

No problem for me i have a decat

Would be very interested if you fixed it and how.

Cheers

AJ

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I have checked various fuses including the ACS fuse. The only one blown and causing the P1412 for me was 60 amp fuse for the air pump in the under hood fuse box.

I also checked the fuse in the relay next to the air pump, which was fine.

Trouble is I don't want to go down the costly route of replacing parts in an attempt to solve the problem, which are perfectly fine.

The 3 parts I am thinking of are

1. Air pump relay
2. Solenoid
3. Air pump (£800+)

From what I've read the aftermarket ecu's mostly disable the air pump system, which was only used to help emissions on startup. Clearly it can't be a vital part.

A spare pump will cost you in the region £200+ off biker1 - and thats quite a good price TBH.

My bet is its either the solenoid, or relay.

You could just leave it, most aftermarket ECU 'dont' disable the airpump J's had this as an option though, i've owned a J's and spoon ECU.

Try give things a couple of thumps, reseting the ECU light and see if it starts

I have the exact same codes and had presumed it was the air pump.

I had rid if it for a short while by resetting but it came back again....

I'd be very interested to see what the resolution is, please do let us know.

I'm reviving this because I don't think there's a thread that has solved this without changing the ECU.

I have the same problem:

P1415 Air Pump Electric Current Sensor Circuit Low Voltage
P1416 Air Pump Electric Current Sensor Circuit High Voltage

The pump spins up as it should, does not turn off prematurely, power cable and air tubes look good, It cant be a fuse because it turns on, resetting the ECU lasts for a day until it turns back on.

With me, the engine light mainly does not turn on while the pump spins for the 1 minute. I know that if it turns on in less than a minute, its prob the pump or tubes.

Out of curiosity, I'm in Australia so I dont have an OBDII port, I have a crappy 3 pin DLC plug. If I do change the ECU like almost everyone has, can I get an OBDII port so I can monitor everything through my phone with those cheap bluetooth adapters?

Thanks guys
