Default HID lights

Recently my drivers side HID bulb failed so i had to replace it (i replaced it with a philips 4300k), i 'was' going to go with a 6000k pair as i liked the blue look and thought this would be the best performance light and an upgrade, turns out i was wrong...

I wanted to know how they work etc and this webpage is a really good read and explains in detail .

BTW we have 4300k made by Philips in our S2000's.

Great find.

There's some really useful stuff there; D2S vs D2R etc, etc...

I went for 5000k in the end as the stock ones have a slight yellow tint at the expense of a slighty reduced light output. 5000k's are white but with a whiff off blue.

With me not buying the car new i suspect they have changed colour over the years hence i really noticed the yellow when i replaced one. I feel from what I've read you lose too much light output (not drastically but still) with 6000k's, of course though they look nicer and they are still a brightier than halogens.

Apparently they dim over a long period of time and actually get bluer after a lot of use.

The 'Lude's 6000s are too blue, despite being the 'recommended' fitment at the time.

I'll try me some 4300s, I think.
