Default HID Main Beam

Now that I'm driving to and from work in the dark, it's made me appreciate just how good the HID dipped lights are... and how poor the main beeams are - they seem to lack any real power.

I've read less than glowing (sorry about that...) reports about PIAA bulbs - can anyone suggest some better headlight bulbs? Or is there an HID high-beam conversion about? New Minis and Lagunas with Xenon lights don't appear to have projector lenses, so maybe there's something out there.

I think the fact that the dipped beams are so bright gives the impression that the main beam are lacking in comparison.

I agree with Dracoro - they're actually very bright but the difference between dipped and main is considerably less noticeable than on other cars.

This is my major gripe with this car; the mainbeams are almost useless if you want to drive quickly at night. I changed to PIAA bulbs but all they did was make a weak yellow light a weak white light

I did have some conversations with Brian Marshall last year about putting higher power bulbs in (albeit they would not be giving a white light) but I'm worried about the heat problem which he warned about

I fitted Phillips Vision Plus Bulbs which in my opinion made the main beam much brighter.

They cost about

I'm actually very impressed with the headlights in general. Is there a difference between MY02 bulbs and ones on previous models?

I'd like front foglights, but maybe they would look wrong.

Help!!!!

New lights fitted to my 99 S2000 recently (blisters on black plastic, so warranty item) don't seem to have the allen bolt adjusters fitted to them. They were set up by Honda to pass my MOT but they have two peaks, instead of the very sharp one that existed previously! Are 2002 lights not adjustable by Joe Public???????????????? (These lights fitted are not the fully chromed versions of the 2002 yr however)

I was under the impression, and I could be very wrong about this, that there are no foglights because the headlights are so low anyway. This is also the reason why the main beams seem poor. They are too low on the ground to illuminate the road properly at any distance.

Paul:

Have you checked your HID pattern at different distances? This is mine at about 15 feet with just the one 'step' which is how I think they're supposed to be. At about 10 feet further back I get two distinct steps.
