Default Does Flashpro need to be registered-

I'll be getting a flashpro tomorrow. I've read these instructions online (numbered it myself for simplicity):

FlashPro Quick Start

1. Installation
• Install the FlashProManager software.
• Start FlashProManager and check for updates.
• Connect the FlashPro to your computer and install USB drivers
• From FlashProManager open the 'FlashPro' window.
• Fill out your owner information and save to the FlashPro.
Register your FlashPro with Hondata.

2. Connect your FlashPro to your vehicle
• Locate the vehicle OBDII/diagnostic port, and plug in the FlashPro.
• Switch on the ignition by do not start the engine.
• Lock your FlashPro to your vehicle.

3. Create a new calibration
• Start FlashProManager and open the New Calibration window.
• Select your ECU type.
• Select a starting calibration based on your engine modifications.
• Save and name your calibration.

4. Reflash your ECU
• Make sure the ignition is switched but the engine is not running.
• Select Upload to reflash your ECU.
• Once the flash process has finished, start your engine.

5. Datalog your ECU
• Using a laptop, press F9 to record a datalog from your vehicle.
• Save the datalog from the Datalog menu.
• Open the graph window. Select a graph template.

6. Tune your ECU
• See the tuning guide.

I won't have my computer with me to install the software and register the unit. Since it's a fairly long drive I would like to Datalog as soon as I pick-up the unit, is it possible to use right away without registering it online? So basically I would like to go directly to step 2 (lock to vehicle) then 5 (data log by pressing datalog button). Is this possible?

The FlashPro is bound (locked) to the ecu (only one) and the only way to do this is by registering and locking it via a pc or laptop. Perhaps the shop you are picking up the FlashPro from can do the locking for you via a laptop or netbook which will enable you to log your trip home.

I was able to datalog my brother's S2000 without unlocking it from my S2000, so I wouldn't be surprised if you can datalog before registering or locking.

Okay, I got a chance to try this now!

Elroy, The unit got shipped to me so there was no computer for me to use, at all!

I can say that yes, gernby is correct! You can use the data logging function w/o even locking the unit to your vehicle. I just plugged in the unit and pressed Datalog.

I'm looking forward to figuring this thing out! Any tips from the seasoned users for us newbies?

you need to be online to register so don't grab your notebook and go out to some desolate area with no wifi before registering.
Definitely read the help guide, it's extremely informative.
After you upload a tune make sure you do the idle learn procedure, the car seems to run much better afterwards.
Don't mess with anything that you are unsure about. It's relatively easy to make your car run the way you want and just as easy to destroy your engine.
After a tune I always log with the notebook so I can keep an eye on my a/f ratio. You can set audible alarms with low and high limits.
I still have tons to learn and have learned lots from gernby's posts

^Yes, I have read all of gernby's post, I'll need to read them again after I finish reading the help guide. I'm taking it slow and have not change any of the settings yet. I have registered the unit and locked it to my car though. One thing I have noticed is the AFR being in the 14s. Gotta do some more logging to see if it's like this all the time.

I don't see where they mention the idle learn procedure in the help guide. Is it this: http://www.hondata.com/help/flashpro/index..._parameters.htm? Basically letting the car idle for 20-60 seconds after uploading a program?

...or is the idle learn procedure in reference to this in the FAQ?

Q. The idle is not quite right after the reflash.
A. It takes 3-4 driving cycles from cold for the ECU to 'learn' the idle.
