Default Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport

Anybody running with these tires? I need more treadlife than my S-02's give me and I understand the RE-11's are no better. This tire seems to offer pretty good traction and more wear. Other than the Tomcatt meet, I do primarily "normal" around town driving.

Carmen, for street tires, I bought a set of Dunlop Direzza Z1 Sport Star specs a few months ago. They are wearing much better than any Potenzas I have ever had. They stick, and they are also good in the rain. Some of my friends drive them on the track with good results. I bought mine from Tire Rack.

Thanks Jim. I always buy from Tire Rack as well. How's the road noise and ride compared to the S-02's?

I'm rolling Falken Azines now but I had Bridgestone RE050A Pole Positions before. They were a very nice tire...comfortable, quiet (much quieter than the 'zines) and I got pretty good life from the tread. Grip is almost as good as the low-wear Falkens (maybe better after the Falkens get hot) although the Falkens have a more progressive break-away that served me well on the dragon...and they are amazing in the rain.

But all in all the RE050A PPs are a very nice choice.

Just checked my receipts and I've gotten 9k from my S-02 rears. Pathetic considering how mild I drive. I can probably squeeze another 1k out of them if I don't mind slipping and sliding in the rain.

I have the Bridgestone 760's, they currently have around 12K on them. The tread depth is still at 8/32nds.

That's really low if you don't do hard driving. With hard driving ususally they only last 8 to 10k. I just looked up my original's and I replaced them at 12.6k and drove them hard. Maybe I flip them; I don't recall.

Wear is on the inboard sides of the tires. One way to increase the tires longevity after they wear on the inside, which they will, is to swap tires and wheels. To clarify - You take the right side tire which is worn on the left and you dismount it from that wheel and you re-mount it on the left wheel. When you do that the worn side of the tire is no longer on the inside. The tire is still rotating in the proper direction. When the tire finally wears out it will then be worn on the left (now the outside) and the right (now the inside).

The noise rate is about the same as RE01Rs, or RE050s, or RE070s, all of which I have had at least one set of on this car. The ride might be a tad less soft, but I don't think so. But the compound does seem to wear better than Potenzas.

I did the same thing you did, asked online -- in our local club. And I got so many local responses about the Direzza Z1s that I decided to try them.

(Also, you might want to consider going to 17" wheels, since the choice of rubber for our car is so much wider now in 17s.)

I too have RE050A PP's and need a set of rear tires .. However, I don't see these listed anymore on either the tirerack or discount tire sites in my size - 255/40R17

Ken, as you know 255/40R17 is the size of the CR rears, too. That's what I run on the rears -- street and track. For the street, I run 215/45R17 on the front -- and 225/ fronts on the track.

070s are the OEM tires for the CR. They are similar to the 050s, but better -- and more expensive. RE070s are definitely available, though, in 255/. Great tires!
