Post Clifford Alarm Siren stopped working

When I bought my car in 1999, I had a Clifford Concept 600 alarm fitted.

Over the past few years, I noticed that although the alarm worked fine (arm/disarm/lock doors/open boot etc), the siren would no longer beep when arming / disarming

Upon making some enquires, I was told that the siren needed replacing, and the cost was circa £70 + fitting + VAT, so assuming an hour to fit, I was looking at something like £150 + VAT.

Looking on eBay for parts, I came across a guy who described the exact same problem, and the solution for £17.50 !

So being all brave etc, I decided to give it a go.

Basically, he said that the siren was fine, it was just the rechargeable backup batteries that had failed, and for £17.50 he sent me new batteries, and a set of instructions that even I could follow.

Here is a couple of photos of the original battery pack in case someone wants to make up their own

The instructions were clear, the tools needed were minimal, and all in all, it took about 1/2hr of my time. This was because one of the bolts had siezed !!

The result - my alarm is now fully working, and I am a happy bunny.

Let me know if anyone needs any more details.

You're probably right !

For £17.50, I got the batteries, and the instructions, which I will remember to reuse when the batteries fail.

If you go to eBay, and search for Clifford Alarm Battery, you will find the suppliers.

I used the one for £17.50, simply because he was the only one selling the item at the time that I was looking.

Since then, a few other sellers are to be found.

I've just realised my problem, the exact same one but stupidly I left my sidelights on. Neighbours banging down my door as the alarm was going off at 4 am, for an hour, oops.

When I charged it, the alarm started to churp again, then a week later it failed, so I'm guessing when I charged the battery it must have charged the battery to the siren as well.

Thing is I like the beep, it's just so bloody loud though!

There are 2 beep tones you can have. Perhaps you have it on the louder one.
