unscrews all by itself?

Anyway I smelled gas fumes so I take it to the dealer. They pressure test the system and the cap... no leaks. After a few days I smell gas again. I go back to my gas cap (where I smell the fumes) and it is loose. I tighten it thinking the tech just forgot to. Today I go to fuel up and the damn thing almost fell on the ground when I popped the gas door.

I know... get a new one.

YES, it has happened to me too, but not all the time, i have smelled gas from time to time when im at a standstill. From what i have noticed, it seems to "loosen" itself when im low on gas, Ex. 2 or less bars, with gas light on. YES, i know to make sure i "tighten" the gas cap enough ( at least 3 clicks ). Your guess is as good as mine? Any input would be nice

V8-What?

Yes, actually I forgot to mention that my CEL has come on. Both times my gas cap has been very loose and the CEL disappeared the first time (after I tightened it and drove around a few times). Today I manually reset the computer because I didn't want to wait.

(Another hand raised) I have had the "check engine" light problem and dealer diagnosed as loose cap. Have since been diligent about tightening it but notice that it seems loose at the next fill-up.
